Please ignore my one-star review from before, as it is wrong. I did get the right PCB. I was informed that the V1808 PCB is the TRIMODE PCB.
Sure enough, it works exactly as it's supposed to.
I ordered this "Any X-Arcade Upgrade Kit (PCB ONLY)" for $20.00 with the option: "NEWEST PCB ONLY: (NO CABLES) (1 yr warranty)", and the SKU on my order stated, "TRIMODE-PCB-ONLY", and even my mailing package had a sticker that stated, "TRIMODE-PCB-ONLY". But they sent me a V1808 PCB instead. I sent an email to support and got a reply confirming that it was supposed to be the V1808 PCB! I have to give a one star for this until they send out the TRIMODE PCB without cables that I had ordered.
I thought I had ordered a USB upgrade kit but this isn't it. I requested the order be cancelled but it was dispatched from China 10 days later.
As the title says ... set the switch to #4 and it Works as advertised "out of the box" for RetroPie as 2 controllers
I've had a tankstick for 15+ years, in three or four different arcade machines. For the first ten years it ran MAME. Now, with access to so many amazing frontends and stable emulators, there are so many more to choose from. All emulators now seem to come built to work with an Xbox controller. The older X-Arcade PCB generated key-strokes, not controller inputs.
Along comes a NEW PCB that promises a straight-across swap and access to x-box controller functionality.
Thank goodness it really is that easy! Open the back of the tankstick, carefully remove four screws holding the old PCB on and swap cables one by one. The only tricky parts were because the tankstick already has lots of wiring in there - AND I added backlit LEDs, which added even more wiring :) Even with all that wiring in there, this was a very straightforward swap.
Put everything back together, switch the back selector over to the furthest left (when looking straight on at the controller), fired it up and watched WIN10 immediately recognize it as two X-Box controllers. A little reconfiguring my existing MAME, and now I can operate all the emulators in my instance of HyperSpin Attact-Mode.
Perfect product, solid buying experience, reasonably fast delivery (had to go through customs to get to me here in Canada :).
If you have an older model PCB, get this and add another 10 years to the life of your arcade!
